Print for Victory, or, How to be a good Human
When the Covid Crisis first kicked in earlier this year, I naturally found myself worried for not only my Family & my Work colleagues (yes I know, don’t tell them I care, it will RUIN my reputation) , but also, Humankind as a whole. As readers of my personal blogs are already aware, I try to do my bit for others as much as possible with fund raising etc, but in this instance, its technology once again that came to my aid to help me process fears & worries I found myself experiencing.
Your already aware that I very much enjoy 3D printing, and it was this avenue of our great industry, that gave me, and therefore others, some much needed positivity in the weeks that rolled on. I stumbled upon a group of like minds via Facebook, where 3D printer owners from across the UK, turned their machines to producing PPE. With this being in such short supply, the demand was huge, and I am happy to say that with the aid of Synchro ERP, and very patient colleagues (who were subjected to my daily counts of how much I had managed to produce the night before, and for contributing towards materials), my Printers went into full swing for over 2 full months, producing face masks, and ear savers, all FREE OF CHARGE, to those who needed them.. care homes, pharmacies, doctors, teachers, carers.. the list went on, but due to the efforts of fellow printers across the UK, hundreds of thousands of pieces of PPE were being supplied to those in need. And working alongside my foundries using Synchro, it appears the same efforts were being put in by everyone I spoke to… as proud as I am of the NHS, and Key workers, I wanted to you all to know, I am just as proud of the efforts of those in OUR industry who kept the UK, indeed the world, running, mostly unmentioned.
Even my Wife & Children got involved producing fabric ears savers between them all, meaning that by the end of the Mahon family efforts, we had managed to produce over 300 face shields, 400 3d printed ear savers and a whopping 500 fabric ear savers… my thanks to my family go without question, as they knew what this meant to me personally.

And now, as the 2nd Lock-down rolls along, I thankfully find that PPE and essential equipment, is no longer at a critical point, again, in no small part thanks to the efforts of Foundries like yours across the world. So, as Lee Mahon, Support manager, Printing enthusiast, husband, and Father… THANK YOU FOUNDRY WORKERS…and Thank you to my amazing Colleagues at Synchro ERP. Your as much a key worker as any, and long may you be so.

Until next time…. Stay Safe, and take Care..
Lee

Shane's Blog - September 2016
Howdy once again from Texas where it’s blazing hot, so hot they are melting iron in the parking lot and the local pancake house is cooking eggs on the hoods of cars! What the heck, one wouldn’t expect anything else in Texas this time of the year other than lack of rain and excessive heat. Myself, I’ll take the heat over the cold anytime as we have chilled air in Texas!
SYNCHRO ERP’s global implementation manager was recently flying from Seattle to Newark and I tracked the flight using the wonders of the Wild West Web. Sometimes we just need to sit back and reflect on all the wonders of what the internet has brought to us. Not that long ago, if one wanted a flight status; the only option was to call the airline. Today, with all of the interconnectivity of the “dots” everything is seemingly in real time.
